Lys is a land protected by its vast wealth. Their island fortresses have high, thick walls and there are plenty of Sellswords patrolling the waters to make them an undesirable target to any naval force. Though, not content to just roam their normal waters, the Sellswords are all-too eager to sail west into enemy territory, pillaging and plundering as they please.

Their love of coin means anyone with deep enough coffers can gain their own ship of hardy sailors for a time. Not interested in individual glory, all that is on the minds of these swashbucklers is plunder and the guarantee of payment when heading back to their home port for a job well done.
